Trans-Balkan Corridor – CGES and EMS are working together on the construction of 400 kV lines Pljevlja-Bajina Bašta-Višegrad

Representatives of the Montenegrin Electrotransmission System (CGES) and the Electricity Network of Serbia (EMS) signed an agreement that will enable the successful realization of the planned tasks and goals of both companies in connection with the construction of the interconnecting 400 kV line Pljevlja-Bajina Bašta-Višegrad, a project within the ongoing Trans-Balkan Corridor.

As announced by CGES, that project aims to improve the conditions of electricity transmission between the northern and southern parts of the region and thus enable further integration of the electricity market, as one of the priorities of the European energy policy.

The signatories of the agreement, executive directors of CGES and EMS, Ivan Asanović and Jelena Matejić, assessed that this act will contribute to the improvement and strengthening of mutual cooperation between the two companies within their jurisdictions and in accordance with the legislation and international agreement of their countries in order to ensure the coordination of activities which should enable the realization of the new electric interconnection project between Serbia and Montenegro.

– The conditions are being met for high-quality cooperation, which includes the exchange of relevant information, knowledge, experiences, the organization of joint preparatory and preliminary activities, and one of the projected benefits will be mutual support as a prerequisite for the realization of a project of mutual interest – could be heard during the signing of the document.
