Montenegro’s airports served 1.75 million passengers in the first eight months of this year, which is 35 percent more than last year, i.e. 93 percent of the results from 2019.

“For the first time since the opening of Podgorica Airport, the millionth passenger during the year was already served on August 14th, which broke the record from 2019 in 40 days”, said Airport of Montenegro.

The Airport of Montenegro stated that in the same period, 1.12 million passengers were served at the Podgorica airport, which is 36 percent more than last year, or 27 percent more than in 2019.

At Tivat Airport, 627.39 thousand passengers were served by August 31st, which is 32 percent more compared to the same period last year, i.e. it is 62 percent of the results from 2019.

Speaking about low-cost companies that have suspended some flights from Montenegrin airports since autumn, the Airport announced that such companies often change bases and routes in their business, but that it is necessary for all state authorities to participate in encouraging year-round air traffic.

The Airport said that, in the context of the potential for year-round air availability, the markets of Montenegro and the region, apart from certain similarities, differ in many ways.
