The enhancement of sports infrastructure holds significant importance for Montenegro, with the construction of the Olympic House, Olympic Museum, and Olympic Park emerging as pivotal projects. Additionally, plans are underway for the erection of the eastern stand of the City Stadium, along with the development of an Athletic Stadium, and facilities dedicated to tennis and table tennis.
This announcement follows a collaborative meeting involving representatives from the Capital City, the Government, and the Montenegrin Olympic Committee. The agenda focused on advancing sports infrastructure across the nation and constructing sports facilities that meet the standards requisite for fostering elite athletic pursuits.
According to a statement from the Capital City, the meeting was spurred by a joint initiative led by the Government of Montenegro, the City of Podgorica, and the Montenegrin Olympic Committee to spearhead the construction of the Olympic House, Olympic Museum, and Olympic Park in Podgorica. Participants of the meeting unanimously underscored the project’s paramount significance and committed to pooling collective efforts to expedite its realization.
“It was unanimously agreed that within seven days, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee will furnish a project task aimed at developing the conceptual blueprint for the Olympic House—a pivotal stride in kickstarting this monumental endeavor. Concrete obligations for all attendees were also outlined during the meeting,” stated the announcement.
Additionally, deliberations included discussions on other critical facets of sports infrastructure development, encompassing proposals for the construction of the eastern stand of the City Stadium, the establishment of an Athletic Stadium, and the provision of facilities tailored for tennis and table tennis.
The meeting convened prominent figures such as Deputy Mayor of Podgorica, Luka Rakčević, Secretary of the Secretariat for Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development, Miljan Barović, Acting Secretary of the Secretariat for Sports, Miloš Antić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Sports and Youth, Dragoslav Šćekić, Director-General of the Directorate for State Budget in the Ministry of Finance, Bojan Paunović, President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, alongside Vladimir Obradović and Zoran Jojić from the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
