The Montenegrin economy is the most dependent on tourism in Europe, according to data from the World Travel and Tourism Council’s research for 2021.
As stated in the research, Montenegrin tourism accounts for 25.5% of Montenegro’s GDP, which is a quarter of the entire economy, reports Investor.
However, this is less dependence on tourism compared to previous reports, when the percentage in the same survey was 30.8%. Just below Montenegro, in terms of the participation of the tourism sector in GDP, is Albania with 17.4%, followed by Croatia with 16.1%.
The economies of Poland 2.8%, Lithuania 3.3% and Serbia 3.6% depend the least on tourism.
Tourism accounts for 9.1% of Italy’s GDP, while in Spain that percentage is 8.5%.
