The construction of a new large-capacity hotel will soon begin in Plav, for which a resident from that town who lives abroad has pledged around EUR 13 million, announced the director of the local tourist organization, Edo Feratović.
He told the RTCG portal that just these days all administrative assumptions, permits and everything else were completed, and that the hotel could be in operation as early as next year.
The hotel will be built on a very attractive location, on the shore of Lake Plav. Along with the Plavsko jezero hotel, which is in the final stages of reconstruction, next year we will have improved accommodations with high-quality facilities – said Feratović.
According to his knowledge, both new hotels will be connected to hotel chains on the Montenegrin coast, so it is expected that Plav will become a regular tourist destination for guests who come to the coast and want to visit the Prokletije National Park in a few days.
– I think that with two hotels, in addition to all the existing hotels, hostels, eco-villages and other private catering facilities, we will solve the problem of accommodation facilities in Plav, which has been pronounced until now – said Feratović.
He assessed that the tourist season in Plav and the Prokletije National Park, despite the bad weather that existed until a few days ago, has started very well and expects it to exceed last year’s.
Feratović said that he would not like to make too many promises, but added that he is very optimistic about the success of this year’s tourist season.
– In addition to the already known manifestations, starting this year we will also have some new ones, and I hope that we will attract guests to visit Plav and Prokletije National Park – said Feratović.
He reminded that the Lim regatta has just ended, as well as the third round of the League of Scouts, with hundreds of participants, during which six saplings were planted in the city zone.
– Already tomorrow, a hiking trip called the Slopes of the Old Man begins, for which an unexpected number of hikers have signed up, not only from Montenegro, but also from the region. Now we have over a hundred registered participants for that hiking trip. Prokletije is increasingly recognized as a great mountain and tourist resource of Montenegro – said Feratović.
He said that the ultimate goal is to extend the tourist season in this northern city as much as possible.
– We are trying to fulfill all assumptions, including hospitality accommodation, so that the season in Plav lasts not only two months, but at least half a year, if not the whole year. For that, we need to recognize all the shortcomings so far and do everything we can to eliminate them – said Feratović.
He also announced already known events such as Blueberry Days, but with some new content, as well as the fact that on July 9 they will organize a triathlon, i.e. a competition in cycling, swimming in Plav lake and running.
– We could conclude that a large influx of tourists is already felt, and soon the arrival of a large diaspora from Plav is expected, when it is felt that this city is becoming a real tourist destination. With all that we have planned, I believe that in the coming years, a tourist revolution awaits us – said Feratović.
He reminded that according to all statistical indicators in 1980, Plav had more tourists than some of the most famous tourist metropolises on the Montenegrin coast.
– We must do everything we can to make Plav a tourist metropolis. And I believe that these two new large hotels, which should be operating at full capacity next season, will also contribute to that – concluded Feratović.
