The company Chayton Capital will work on the development of the modernization of the energy production segment of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant and the development of concepts for the construction of a cement factory, a plasterboard factory, a factory of innovative prefabricated building elements and a plant for recycling, waste treatment and biomass.

At yesterday’s Government session, a proposal for a memorandum of understanding between the Government, Elektroprivreda Montenegro and Chayton Capital was adopted, which, as announced by Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, will most likely be signed on April 10.

Personally, I have never heard a better idea for Pljevlja. Whether it can be realized in this way remains to be seen. Chayton is ready to do feasibility studies that should show this. It is not only about the modernization of the thermal power plant, which would also switch to a power plant that would work on biomass and thus be completely environmentally acceptable. Two more businesses would be opened there – the construction of a cement plant nearby and a plasterboard factory – said Abazović. As he stated, it is an incredible idea for Pljevlja and the entire area.

I think it is a serious partner that has similar projects already developed in some countries of the European Union. We are here to help and do what we can, to see if the studies will show if everything can be done the way they imagined – he added.

The Government announced after the session that the memorandum refers to the creation of a framework for the development, structuring, financing and implementation of the investment plan regarding the industrial infrastructure in Pljevlja.

The municipality of Pljevija, as the industrial and energy center of Montenegro, has been facing problems related to the preservation of the environment for many years, but also the impossibility of valorizing the basic raw materials located on its territory. The purpose of this Memorandum is to provide a framework for the development, structuring, financing and implementation of the investment plan regarding the industrial infrastructure in Pljevlja – the announcement states.

As pointed out in the discussion, Chayton Capital will work on the development of the modernization plan for the energy production segments of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant and the development of concepts for the construction of a cement factory, a plasterboard factory, a factory of innovative prefabricated building elements and a plant for recycling, waste treatment and biomass.
