Elektroprivreda (EPCG) and the University of Montenegro (UCG) are planning cooperation on the development of renewable energy sources, and one of the joint projects could be the production of 10 Kw wind turbines.

As it was announced, the cooperation of the University of Electrical Engineering on the development of renewable energy sources within joint projects was the reason for the meeting of the rector of UCG, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Božović, professor of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UCG, prof. Dr. Novak Jauković and President of the Board of Directors of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore Milutin Đukanović with representatives of EPCG management.

– The University of Montenegro has in Elektroprivreda a reliable partner and an institution that leads the way in support, openness and readiness to cooperate with the University for the benefit of the entire community. Therefore, our support for development, innovative projects of EPCG will not be missing, especially in the field of renewable energy sources – said rector Božović.

Concrete models of possible cooperation between the University and the Electric Industry were presented at the meeting. EPCG-Željezara and the University could work on the development and production of a 10 Kw wind turbine. Certain drafts of possible solutions have already been made, and a special research would determine which type is most suitable for certain areas in Montenegro.

– Its installation is not economically demanding, and the best potential of the appropriate model could be seen through monitoring. Another possible type of cooperation is the “conquest” of liquid coal technology as an environmentally acceptable fuel, and the establishment of a joint institute for green energy, within which the foundations for further development of renewable energy sources would be laid – the EPCG press release states.

President of the Board of Directors of EPCG, Milutin Đukanović, said that for Montenegro, the cooperation of two strong institutions, such as the University and EPCG, is of strategic importance for the economic development of Montenegro.

– At Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, we have two business philosophies. The first is “produce where you consume”, which in perspective means free energy because it will enable the consumer to have production cover consumption. Another business philosophy is that we use the hydropower infrastructure to connect larger solar power plants for the reason that this compatibility between solar and water could accelerate the development of energy in Montenegro – said Đukanović.

At the meeting, the executive director of the Directorate for Development and Investments of EPCG Ivan Mrvaljević, the chief director for operational management of EPCG Zoran Šljukić, as well as Martin Ćalasan, member of the Board of Directors of EPCG and professor of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, gave their suggestions for cooperation and further development at the meeting.

It was concluded that for further work, a joint commission should be formed to consider joint projects, and EPCG will receive proposals for them from the University of Montenegro.
