EPCG Željezara Nikšić currently has around 300 employees and around 100 contractors, the new chairman of the board of directors of that company, Maksim Vučinić said.
The sustainability of the factory is in basic production, i.e. steel production, but Vučinić could not specify when that process could begin. The reason, he stated, is the necessary permits that the Ironworks must have in order to start production.
– I would wait for the institutions to declare themselves. We have various ways to reach the goal, and the main goal is, first of all, the sustainability of the Željezara – that we manage to cover the salaries of all the employees of the Željezara with the operation of the plant – said Vučinić.
The assets of the factory, where there has been no basic production for almost three years, were purchased by Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) from the Turkish company Tosčelik for EUR 20 million at the beginning of the year. Vučinić pointed out that the Nikšić factory has support from both the parent company and the Government.
He said that solar potentials are currently being developed in Željezara, but he points out that in terms of sustainability, it must return to primary production. For that process, said Vučinić, Željezara has more than enough workers.
