Montenegro must use its energy potential

Cooperation with American companies in the field of energy is of strategic importance not only for Elektroprivreda (EPCG), but also for Montenegro itself and the further development of the energy sector, announced the president of the Board of Directors of that company, Milutin Đukanović.

During the visit of the EPCG delegation to the United States of America (USA), he announced that Montenegro must use its energy potential and that the help of American investors and financial institutions is welcome and can be very significant.

As part of its visit to the USA, the EPCG delegation led by Đukanović and CEO Nikola Rovčanin held meetings in New York with representatives of the host, the American company UGTR and representatives of the international ING bank.

In front of UGTR, Chief Financial Officer Robert Doyle (Doyle) attended the meeting, while in front of ING Bank, Director of Structured Export Financing, Gemma Boe, attended the meeting.

– In November of last year, representatives of EPCG and the American company UGTR signed a memorandum on strategic cooperation in the joint development of RES projects, primarily solar energy. The Korean company Hyndai Engineering is also a partner company of UGTR – EPCG reminded.

Boe announced that in addition to the full commitment to financing the projects that EPCG and UGTR jointly plan, including the construction of the Velje Brdo solar power plant, ING Bank, as an international bank that actively operates in all member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), is also interested in cooperation on other projects developed by EPCG in the field of renewable energy sources.

ING Bank is a global bank that operates in over 40 countries around the world with 37 million clients and over 60,000 employees with headquarters in Amsterdam and a representative office in New York, whose shares are listed on the stock exchanges in Amsterdam, New York and Brussels.

In the period from September 11th to 14th, at the invitation of the American partner company UGTR, representatives of EPCG will participate in one of the largest energy fairs in the world and the largest fair in the field of renewable energy sources in America – Solar power international 2023.
