The national air carrier Air Montenegro realized on Saturday the first regular flight from Bratislava to Podgorica as part of a series of flights planned twice a week, that is, on Thursdays and Saturdays until September 23rd of the current year.
In cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovakia, the National Tourist Organization of Montenegro and the Tourist Organization of Podgorica, the passengers were welcomed by representatives of our partners and girls in Montenegrin costumes with a traditional Montenegrin welcome.
The establishment of air lines between Podgorica and Bratislava, as well as flights between Tivat and Brno, which began on Thursday, June 15th, were preceded by workshops held at the end of May this year in Bratislava and Brno, where representatives of Air Montenegro and NTO CG promoted the tourist offer of Montenegro in anticipation of the opening of these airlines.
– We expect to transport around 3,500 passengers on this route on regular flights in the period from June 17th to September 23rd – the national airline said.
During the previous year, according to the data of the Monstat Administration for Statistics, the arrival of 8,595 tourists from Slovakia was registered in Montenegro, which is almost three times more than in 2021. They achieved 46,306, which represents a growth of 182% compared to 2021. The first four months show growing trends when it comes to visits from this market, and Air Montenegro points out that there is an increasing interest of tourists and the business community from the Slovak market in using the services of their company and staying in Montenegro.
– Bearing in mind the importance of the Slovakian market for tourist traffic and the extension of the tourist season in Montenegro, we believe that the introduction of the Bratislava – Podgorica airline line is important because Montenegro is an interesting airline destination for the Central European market – the company says.
The Airport of Montenegro announced that the airports in Podgorica and Tivat will be connected to around 40 destinations each this year.
