Potential investors from the Swedish company Uber Nordic are interested in investing and starting production at the Nikšić Ironworks, as announced by the Ministry of Energy and Mining.
Minister of Energy and Mining Saša Mujević, along with his associates, met with representatives of Uber Nordic, confirming the investors’ intention to launch operations in the Ironworks and steel production with complete modernization of the facilities defined through the investment development schedule.
Advisor to the President of Montenegro for Regional Development, Aleksandar Stijović, organized and coordinated a visit by investors and meetings with all relevant institutions to jointly find solutions for restarting production at the Nikšić Ironworks, aiming to preserve existing jobs and generate new employment opportunities through the opening of new operational units.
A meeting was previously held with the management of the Electric Power Industry of Montenegro (EPCG), the owner of the Ironworks, where the President of the Board of Directors of EPCG, Milutin Đukanović, presented potential models of future collaboration.
Đukanović mentioned that there are currently 288 employees at the Ironworks, and the factory area covers one million square meters, with around 250,000 square meters under the roof. The investor presented an investment plan with the goal of launching a steel mill, forge, and specialized production, focusing on the production of high-quality steel based on green technology.
The Financial Director, Frederik Aker, and the expert consultant of Uber Nordic, Radovan Perović, presented investment models for the company of up to 70 million euros in equipment and facilities for the Ironworks. They particularly emphasized the investor’s intention for a long-term investment with a gradual increase in the number of employees.
