Monthly inflation in August amounted to 1.7%, while prices in the period from January to August this year, compared to the same period last year, increased by 10.1%, Monstat data show.
Namely, as announced by the Administration for Statistics, the prices of personal consumption products and services, measured by the consumer price index, rose by an average of 1.7% in August compared to July. As Monstat data show, compared to the same month last year, prices are 8.6% higher.
If we compare the first eight months of this year with the same time period in 2022, an average price growth of 10.1% was achieved.
– The biggest impact on the monthly inflation rate was the increase in prices in the groups fuel and lubricants for motor vehicles, solid fuels, vegetables, meat, clothes, shoes and other footwear, followed by accommodation services and fruit – according to Monstat’s announcement.
Observed by the main groups of products and services according to the purpose of consumption, in August, compared to the previous month, growth was recorded in the groups transport 3.9%, clothing and footwear 2.3%, and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels 2.2%.
– A growth of 1.9% was recorded in the group of restaurants and hotels, while the prices of food and soft drinks increased by 1.7% – the data show.
The increase in prices was also recorded in the groups recreation and culture 1.3%, furniture, household equipment and routine apartment maintenance 0.4%, health 0.3%, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco 0.1%.
– A drop in prices of 0.3% was recorded in the groups of other goods and services – it was stated.
The prices of other products and services did not change significantly.
