Montenegro has a realistic chance to make the fastest progress of all the WB countries on the road to the EU, noted the Brussels correspondents from Serbia and Croatia, Dusan Gajic and Augustin Palokaj. They stress that a lot of time has been wasted for making progress on the EU road, adding that political stability is now expected from a new government, which would accelerate reforms.

Montenegro could make the fastest progress of all the WB countries if it demonstrates real willingness and fulfil what’s expected from it, the two agreed.

Augustin Palokaj, considers that Montenegro’s the only country that has a real chance to make great progress in the EU accession process.

“Montenegro has no issues with the EU members states, has good relations with the neighbours, doesn’t have any political obstacle,” assesses Mr Palokaj.

Dusan Gajic, correspondent from Brussels, adds that Montenegro is the clearest, most obvious candidate for faster progress in negotiations, not only because it made the biggest progress in the formal sense, but because it doesn’t have additional issues that might halt that process.

“There are no open issues, like in the case of Serbia and Kosovo, it has no bilateral disputes like North Macedonia with Bulgaria or Albania with Greece, or the internal issues like Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Mr Gajic says.
