Montenegro gets the Bigova Bay resort, worth EUR 400 million

Montenegro is getting the luxury tourist complex Bigova Bay, the total value of which is around EUR 400 million. The next year, when it comes to this project, will be dedicated to the development of the entire infrastructure, and at the same time negotiations are being conducted with the most prestigious operators for hotels and restaurants that will be part of the project.

This was announced after the meeting of representatives of the Government with investors. In addition to Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, Ana Novaković Đurović, the Prime Minister’s Investment Adviser Marija Krgović, as well as Walid Al Najjab, representative of the project owner, Bojana Ječmenica, project manager BBI Development and Branka Lazarević, executive director of the company Bigova Bay.

Abazović expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Montenegro and Kotor will get a resort such as Bigova Bay, stating that it will greatly complement the offer in the so far little-discovered, but extremely beautiful part of our coast.

The Prime Minister expressed the support of the Government of Montenegro and the readiness of the institutions to work together on the continuation of this project.

The representative of the investor, Al Najjab, introduced the prime minister to the investment worth EUR 400 million, emphasizing that it is a project that Montenegro will be extremely proud of and that fully fits into the environment, meets environmental protection criteria and does not damage the environment and cultural heritage – it is stated in the announcement.

The investor also announced that the next year will be dedicated to the development of the infrastructure, which is the basis of the development of the entire project, but also that talks will be held in parallel with the most prestigious operators for hotels and restaurants that will be part of the project.

Let us remind you that in December 2019, the Municipality of Kotor, the Directorate for Development and Construction of Kotor and the company Bigova Bay signed an agreement which creates the preconditions for the realization of a valuable investment in the area of ​​Bigova-Trašta.

As announced at the time, the construction of a resort that will include hotels, villas and commercial facilities is planned.According to the planning documents, the construction of two hotels is foreseen, one of which has 478 beds, and the other is smaller, with a certain number of villas.

In August 2020, the first contractor contract was signed between the companies BBI Development and Briv Construction for communal equipment of land and construction of communal infrastructure for the needs of the Bigova Bay project. The first phase of the works was completed in mid-2021.

Last year, the government gave consent to register a mortgage on the cadastral parcel number 1483/1, l.n. 547, KO Lješevići, estimated value of EUR 7.47 million in favor of the Bigova Bay company. At that time, it was clarified that in this way the obligation assumed a long time ago is being fulfilled, which creates the conditions for the construction of a luxury tourist complex, a five-star hotel and accompanying facilities.

In November, a contract was signed for the construction of the primary infrastructure for this project, which includes the construction of water supply, electricity and optics for Donji Grbalj. The value of the project is EUR 6.2 million, and the deadline for completing the works is 13 months.

As it was said during the signing of the contract, with that act the construction of the biggest tourist investment in Montenegro, the Bigova Bay project, began in full capacity.
