The National Tourist Organization (NTO) announced today that Jet2.com’s inaugural flight from London to Tivat, carrying 190 passengers, has successfully landed. NTO organized a welcoming reception for the first passengers, with its director, Ana Tripković Marković, expressing satisfaction with the introduction of air routes and the ongoing collaboration with Jet2.

“After introducing the Manchester-Tivat route last year, facilitated by the UK’s largest tour operator and one of the leading British airlines, we are delighted this year to hear about the introduction of connections to Tivat from two more British cities, London and Birmingham. This means that Montenegro will be connected to three major cities in the UK through this company this year. We believe that successful cooperation between NTO and Jet2holidays has contributed to this,” said Tripković Marković.

She recalled the successful campaign conducted last year by NTO and Jet2holidays, targeting both travel agents and individual travelers. The campaign utilized digital channels, modern marketing tools, as well as traditional channels like billboards and radio stations.

“This is just one of many activities NTO is directing toward the UK market. With the promotional activities we will continue to conduct and excellent air connectivity, we are confident that we will record significant growth in the number of tourists from the UK market this year. Last year, we recorded a 10% increase in arrivals from the UK compared to 2019,” Tripković Marković added.

Jelena Maraš, President of the Board of Directors of Airports of Montenegro, welcomed one of the leading British airlines.

“Airports of Montenegro will continue to be a reliable partner to NTO, which, by opening today’s Jet2 line, London Stansted-Tivat, demonstrates the significance in strengthening the air accessibility of our country. Regarding the connectivity between the UK and Montenegro during this summer season, which started in aviation on March 31, we emphasize that in Tivat, besides London Stansted, we will once again be connected to London Gatwick, London Luton, and Manchester,” MaraÅ¡ said.

According to her, it is particularly important that Tivat has new routes to Birmingham and Bristol this summer.

Simultaneously, Podgorica is already connected to two airports in London, and as of today, it is also reconnected to Manchester.

“Airports of Montenegro served over 290,000 passengers from January 1 to March 24, which is 24% more compared to the same period in 2019. This season, we will provide conditions for safe and secure operations for passengers and airlines,” MaraÅ¡ concluded.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays Executive Director Steve Heapy stated that flights to Tivat are part of their company’s expanded program, responding directly to increased demand from British tourists this summer.

“We are extremely pleased to have flights on the London-Tivat route this year. This stunning holiday destination has proven to be extremely popular with customers and independent travel agents looking for sun, sea, and authentic cultural heritage, offered by Montenegro. Tivat is an excellent addition to our huge summer program this year. Introducing this new route also provides local people with fantastic access to England and its capital,” Heapy said.

In addition to this flight, today saw two more planes from London and one from Manchester landing at Tivat airport, indicating the attractiveness of Montenegrin destinations in the UK market and the growing traffic from that market.

According to announcements from Airports of Montenegro, during the upcoming summer season, Tivat will be connected to around 40 destinations, and Podgorica to more than 40.
