Podgorica Airport celebrated a significant milestone by serving its millionth passenger of the year. The lucky traveler, Beata Wieleba, arrived on a Ryanair flight from London, surpassing the previous record set last year when the millionth passenger was served on August 14, according to Airports of Montenegro (ACG).
To mark the occasion, the millionth passenger received several gifts: a 500 EUR voucher from the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG), a weekend stay for two at the Splendid Hotel, VIP tickets for the Kotor-Lovćen cable car, a 100 EUR voucher from Voli, and an invitation to the Beer Fest hosted by the Mamut Brewery.
Roko Tolić, Executive Director of ACG, commented that this new record reflects a successful season for the airport. “The millionth passenger arrived aboard a Ryanair flight, which, although frequently mentioned in the Montenegrin media, is just one of our many partners. We highly value our partnership with PKCG, as we share common goals, and I believe that together we can achieve great success,” Tolić said.
Ranko Jovović, President of the PKCG’s Tourism and Hospitality Association, expressed confidence in the continued success of the collaboration between ACG and PKCG. “Today’s event is a continuation of our partnership aimed at enhancing air accessibility. PKCG will act as a mediator to attract more airlines to Montenegro, not just during the summer but throughout the year,” Jovović announced.
Montenegro Stars Hotel Group will also support this initiative. Maja Vukićević, the group’s PR Manager, expressed optimism that the new ACG management will achieve their goals, particularly in working with low-cost carriers. “Attracting guests from Western Europe, especially the UK, is very important to us. In support of opening new routes, Montenegro Stars Hotel Group, which includes the Splendid Hotel, is prepared to assist financially if needed, as we have in the past. We will sponsor such initiatives,” Vukićević stated.
So far this year, Airports of Montenegro have handled over 1.64 million passengers, representing a 17 percent increase compared to the same period last year and a 10 percent rise compared to 2019.
