Kuwait and Montenegro are connected by a direct airline for the first time, the Airport of Montenegro announced.
“Jazeera Airways has started operations on the route Kuwait City – Tivat. The flights will be operated twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, until the end of October”, the announcement states.
The ceremonial welcome was attended by the president of the Board of Directors of Montenegro Airport Eldin Dobardžić, member of the Board of Directors Slavko Vukčević, director of the Tivat Airport Vladimir Praščević and director of the Tivat Tourist Organization Nina Lakičević.
“And today we have great news for our country. We attended a historic flight on the route Kuwait – Tivat. The company that will connect Montenegro and Kuwait from today until October is Jazeera Airways, and it will fly twice a week. The establishment of a direct line between our two countries proves the increased interest of the rich countries of the Middle East in our market, which must please everyone in Montenegro, not only us at the airports”, said Dobardžić.
He pointed out that another new Tashkent-Tivat route will be opened in the coming days and announced the premiere opening of the Riyadh-Tivat line, recalling that recently, also for the first time, the Vienna-Tivat line was opened.
Dobardžić emphasized the importance of connecting Montenegro with the countries of the Middle East.
“Through the Airport of Montenegro, in the key months of the summer season, we will be connected by direct airlines with a number of countries in the region, such as Saudi Arabia, Israel, Egypt, Dubai, Kuwait, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. This is good news for the entire Montenegrin economy.
By connecting Tivat with the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, we complete the picture of market interests that are completely new to us. In this way, Montenegro, as a Mediterranean country, positions itself in a part of the world from which our traditional guests have not come so far”, said Dobardžić.
He also announced the new route Tivat – Brno and added that our national airline will operate on that route.
“I am pleased to announce that we have increased interest from the Czech market, as well as from Poland, with which we are already connected by several direct lines. The opening of new airlines gives us the right to expect an excellent season, perhaps a record one by some parameters, but also to be optimistic about getting closer to a record year in 2019”, said Dobardžić.
The deputy regional manager at Jazeera Airways, Ahmet Albayrak, thanked the management of Kuwait Airport and Montenegro Airport for establishing a direct airline. “We are very happy that from today, when we started direct flights from Kuwait to Tivat, we can also include this destination in our offer,” said Albayrak.
Lakičević announced that every increase in airlines contributes to the development of tourism, because direct connections make it easier for every interested individual to visit our country.
“As tourism has become a stronger economic activity year after year, the airport and air carriers have recognized the need for stronger cooperation. In addition to the greater representation of guests from Western Europe, we will now certainly have a higher percentage of tourists from the Middle East, all thanks to the lines that start today, until the end of October. The new airlines are an encouraging fact not only for Tivat, but also for the entire Montenegrin tourism”, said Lakičević.
The director of the National Tourist Organization (NTO), Ana Tripković-Marković, expressed her satisfaction with the opening of a direct line between Kuwait and Tivat, which represents an important step for Montenegro as a tourist destination.
“NTO is strongly committed to the diversification of the tourist market, and the opening of airlines to new markets is of great importance to us. This year, significant steps were taken on the road to opening up to the Middle East market, and in addition to Kuwait, we will also be connected to the Saudi Arabian market through two airlines. Thus, NTO intensified its promotional activities towards these markets, and participated in the Arab Tourist Exchange, and we are expecting other activities in the Middle East market”, stated Tripković-Marković in a written statement submitted to the Airports.
