Electric power distribution company (EPCG) has so far not considered any kind of increase in the price of electricity for the next year, said Zoran Šljukić, technical director of the company.

He also announced that this year will be a record year in terms of electricity production, but also in terms of business results, where they expect a profit of around EUR 80 million.

– Regarding the price of active energy, EPCG has not yet considered any kind of increase in the price of electricity. That decision is up to the Board of Directors, so far no request for an increase in the price of electricity has been considered – said Šljukić.

He also reminded that the announced increase in the price of electricity for 2023 of 5.63% has nothing to do with EPCG, because it is a request of the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS). According to Šljukić, the regulator will assess whether this is a justified request or not.

He said that at this moment EPCG has about 700 GW hours more electricity production than last year.

– Last year ended with a production result of 2,700 GW. EPCG is currently at 3,000 GW hours. We expect that by the end of the year we will have around 3,300 GW, maybe even more, which will be around 10% more than planned. In euros, we expect it to be around EUR 75 to 80 million, depending on how much will be exported in December and depending on the hydrology and business decisions of EPCG – stated Šljukić.

He also said that the possible privatization or sale of part of the shares of EPCG has not been discussed with the representatives of the new government.

– I don’t see the need for any kind of privatization of EPCG. We already tried it with the Italians, it turned out to be a bad model… Personally, I don’t see any reason to experiment. EPCG has good management that knows how to manage the company – said Šljukić.
