Continuation and completion of the highway is the primary investment priority of the state, said the Minister of Finance, Aleksandar Damjanović, and added that citizens will feel the full valorization of its potential and importance after the construction of all sections.
He spoke today with the Chinese ambassador to Montenegro, Fan Kuhn, about the possibilities of deepening economic, political and cultural cooperation between traditionally friendly countries.
Referring to the previous joint projects, with an emphasis on the construction of the first section of the highway in Montenegro, Fan stated that for the Government of China, this project represents a symbol of security, development, connectivity and prosperity, with which Damjanović also agreed, stressing that the continuation and considers the completion of the highway as the primary investment priority of the state, expressing the belief that the citizens of Montenegro will feel the full valorization of the potential, utilization and importance of the highway only after the completion of the overall project, i.e. the construction of all sections.
Fan, as announced by the Ministry, conveyed the interest of credible Chinese companies in doing business in Montenegro, with whose strategic investment plans the Embassy and the Montenegrin side are familiar with, especially in, as he emphasized, “complementary projects, which include traffic infrastructure, energy , but also some other important areas”.
Damjanović said that it is difficult to finance crucial infrastructure, energy and traffic projects from the budget of Montenegro, expressing his belief that in a responsible society, political goals must not have primacy over economic ones, and that in no time, even this difficult one, they must not ignore various aspects of cooperation between countries, including between Montenegro and China.
Fan recalled China’s previously expressed support for Montenegro’s European path, with the conclusion that its potential membership cannot have negative implications for the parallel strengthening of partnership relations between China and Montenegro, but on the contrary – it can be a good basis for, as Damjanović stated, ” Europeanization of bilateral relations” of the two countries, with the possibility of joint projects of all three mentioned parties.
The interlocutors also agreed that it is time to organize the sixth meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic and Trade Cooperation between the two countries, which, as they assessed, will have a positive effect on the necessary intensification of economic relations, especially bearing in mind the great mutual understanding , huge development potentials and strong cultural ties that date back to the period of the former Yugoslavia.
During the pragmatic conversation in a friendly tone, it was jointly assessed that the foundations that are being laid are an excellent basis for upgrading the relations between the two countries in the future.
Fan thanked Damjanović for the constructive and encouraging conversation, his open approach, but also, as he said, his genuine willingness to contribute to the deepening of cooperation between the two friendly countries, stressing that he greatly appreciates the responsible attitude that Damjanović has, both with regard to economic topics and in looking at the wider world. images about the need for stronger cooperation between the two countries.
