The priority section of the highway from Smokovac to Mateševo, whose contractor was the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), has become a high-quality premium project, and Chinese companies, including CRBC, are ready to cooperate in the next stages as well, said the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Montenegro.
– According to the statistics of Monteputo, more than 1.9 million vehicles have passed safely through this section since it was put into traffic in July last year, and it has brought great convenience to the citizens of Montenegro. If Montenegro currently has 620,000 inhabitants, it is equivalent to every Montenegrin resident passing through this section three times. At the same time, through almost a year of work, we believe that this section of the outlet has three important characteristics, i.e. high safety, high degree of utilization and high quality standards, and that it is indeed an excellent project. I think that in the future it will also become a “brand project” of Chinese-Montenegro cooperation – said Fan Kun.
The priority share project built by the Chinese company is of great importance and, in the long term, it has, as he said, at least four important implications.
– First, this is a safe road, which improves traffic conditions in Montenegro and significantly reduces the number of traffic accidents. Secondly, this is the path of development, which is driven by the economic development of all areas along the highway itself, including the entire state of Montenegro, especially the development of tourism, which will help alleviate the problem of unbalanced development between the north and south of the country. Third, this is a connecting road, which facilitates the interconnection of Montenegro with the countries of the region and the rest of Europe and strengthens the status of Montenegro as a regional traffic hub. Fourth, this is the path to prosperity, which has raised the confidence of the international community in the development prospects of Montenegro and contributes to the sooner possible integration of Montenegro into the European family – said Fan Kun.
Chinese companies, including CRBC, he points out, have a strong willingness to cooperate in the next stages as well.
– The priority section is about 41 kilometers long, with 16 tunnels, 20 bridges and 3 interchanges. Bridges and tunnels make up as much as 60% of it. It was the most difficult part of the project in the technical and technological sense. The successful completion and commissioning of the priority section is a strong proof of the technical power and capacity of Chinese companies, and it also accumulated valuable experience and useful references for Chinese companies to continue participating in the construction of subsequent sections. Chinese companies, including CRBC, are very willing to continue the good momentum in the cooperation between the two sides and continue to participate in the next phase of construction always on the basis of mutual benefit and win-win results – stressed Fan Kun.
