Almost all hotels operating in the area of Kotor Municipality are open, and their capacities are full, announced the local Tourist Organization (TO).

The director of TO Kotor, Jovan Ristic, said that according to the data they have, there are numerous reservations for the next period, but also that at the moment it is very difficult to find a free room in Kotor, while during the peak season it is almost impossible.

“According to everything we have seen since the beginning of the year, the results, when it comes to collected fees and the number of guests, will be higher than ever. This will be more reason for us to think about what and how in the future, what are the measures to make it easier to bear the peak periods of the peak season, to make it easier and more beautiful for our tourists, but also for the local population who have to lead a normal life even during the summer”. said Ristic to Radio Kotor.

He also stated that, for the first time since the existence of TO, the Tourism Development Strategy of Kotor until 2030 was published.

The document, among other things, foresees the development of stationary tourism, the Kotor hinterland, rural, active tourism, as well as the diversification of the tourist product and the abolition of seasonality.

“By opening larger accommodation capacities and hotels, we will have the possibility to spread the number of guests over almost the entire municipality and reduce the pressure on the city.” Then various measures come into consideration and opportunities are opened to reduce the number of guests, to introduce slightly higher fees that will concern everything that constitutes depreciation in the city when it comes to a huge number of guests,” explained Ristić.

The adoption of that document is expected soon at the Assembly of TO Kotor, and its implementation has already begun.

The strategy also includes the segment of maritime traffic in the bay, i.e. its development in the future.
“The development strategy of the city of Kotor envisages the introduction of electric vehicles, both buses and smaller vehicles, as well as boats. It is one of the ways to reduce the crowd to a certain extent,” concluded Ristić.
