Average salary without taxes and contributions in July, according to Monstat data, amounted to EUR 797 and was 0.3 percent higher than in June.
The average net salary in July increased by 11.6 percent compared to the same month last year.
The average gross salary in June was EUR 993.
“If it is taken into account that consumer prices in July recorded a growth of one percent compared to June, it follows that real earnings for the same period recorded a drop of 0.7 percent,” the announcement states.
Compared to June, the average wages without taxes and contributions in July increased in the sectors of other service activities by 2.3 percent, artistic, entertainment and recreational activities by 2 percent, manufacturing industry by 1.8 percent, construction by 1.6 percent, professional, scientific and technical activities 1.3 percent, transport and storage and financial and insurance activities 0.9 percent each and administrative and auxiliary service activities 0.8 percent.
Growth was also recorded in the sectors of accommodation and food service 0.7 percent, water supply, waste water management, process control, waste removal and similar activities, as well as wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles 0.6 percent each and agriculture, forestry and fishing, and health and social protection, 0.3 percent each.
The decrease in net earnings in July, compared to the previous month, was recorded in the sectors of information and communication by 3.1 percent, real estate business by 0.6 percent, mining and quarrying by 0.2 percent, supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning and state administration and defense, compulsory social insurance 0.1 percent each.
