The Minister of Economic Development and Tourism, Goran Đurović, wished travelers a pleasant stay in Montenegro and expressed satisfaction with the opening of a new airline, which is in line with the clear direction of the Government of Montenegro towards diversification of the tourism market.

The establishment of a direct airline line Riga – Tivat is of strategic importance for Montenegrin tourism. With this, we opened up the market of the Baltic countries, which I believe has enormous potential. I am sure that Montenegro can be interesting for tourists from this market, which is confirmed by the excellent announcements for upcoming flights, primarily because of the diverse tourist offer, unique nature and Mediterranean climate – he said.

Đurović added that there is potential to develop in this market as a year-round destination, bearing in mind that tourists from these areas look for destinations with a mild climate in the off-season, where they can have an authentic experience and enjoy good national cuisine.

Bearing in mind the excellent announcements for the upcoming flights, I believe that this is only a step towards the improvement of air connectivity with the market of the Baltic countries and that we can expect more significant innovations in the coming period – concluded Đurović.The president and CEO of AirBaltic, Martin Gauss, said that they have high expectations for this airline.

This summer season, AirBaltic is launching its largest number of new routes in one season so far – 20 in total, from the Baltic countries and Finland. We are glad that the beautiful coastal city of Montenegro, Tivat, is among them and we look forward to welcoming Montenegrin citizens to our home.

By launching this new line, we offer not only a direct connection, but also the possibility of transferring passengers with over 100 airlines from Europe and beyond, through our home base in Riga – Gauss announced. The reception was attended by the executive director of Montenegro Airport, Vladan Drašković, the director of Tivat Airport, Vladimir Praščević, as well as representatives of the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro.

On that occasion, the director of the Tivat airport, with a friendly welcome to the tourists, said that he is very optimistic about the upcoming flights and that this line is of great importance for Tivat Airport.
Montenegro is connected to Latvia again. Our new partner, a renowned European company, Air Baltic connects Riga and Tivat. Today we continue the streak that was recently established when Jet2.com opened a route from Manchester to Tivat. As of May 13, Austrian Airlines will, for the first time, connect Tivat with Vienna by direct flight – said Praščević.

He pointed out that they are satisfied with the achieved results, that the announcements are very good, and that we are expecting some new lines in June. As the NTO CG points out, they readily welcome tourists from the Baltic countries.

With partners from the Baltic countries and the company Air Baltic, we worked a lot in the field of promoting Montenegro in order to create conditions for the establishment of this airline. For the first time, the Montenegrin tourism offer was presented at the fair in Riga, one of the most significant events in the field of tourism in the Baltic countries, and study visits by tour operators were also carried out – the announcement states.

In addition to this line, this year we are also expecting three new charter lines from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia established by the national airline Air Montenegro, which will further improve air connectivity with these countries.
