After more than a decade, Kolašin has gained a new luxury hotel – Swissôtel Resort Kolašin.
The hotel on Bjelasica opened earlier this month, becoming the first hotel on the ski slopes in Montenegro.
Situated in the mountains, 12 kilometers from the center of Kolašin, the hotel is part of the Kolašin Valleys mountain resort, which includes two ski villages on the Bjelasica ski resort. Both ski centers offer a combined trail length of 45 kilometers, and in the next decade, they are expected to become part of an expansive network of interconnected ski trails measuring 141 kilometers.
Swissôtel Manager Đorđije Pašić told Montenegrin journalists during the hotel tour that the facility offers 116 accommodation units with direct access to the Kolašin 1600 ski slope, ski services, two restaurants, a fireplace bar, a cigar bar, and shopping space featuring global ski brands.
“Here, guests can seamlessly access the ski slopes from their comfortable rooms and apartments or enjoy the view of the slopes and nearby mountain peaks from their balconies. The hotel’s team currently consists of 70 employees, mostly from Montenegro, and we are very proud that the majority of our colleagues come from municipalities surrounding Bjelasica,” said Pašić.
More than a third of the employees are from Kolašin and Mojkovac.
“That will be our goal in the future as well. We are confident that the staff from these areas can best represent the traditional hospitality of the region and create a personalized experience for each guest,” Pašić added.
The hotel on Bjelasica is the first mountain hotel of the Swissôtel brand in the Balkans. In line with the surroundings and traditional Montenegrin construction, rough stone and weathered wood are the main elements of the overall design.
Dragana Bećirović, an advisor on the Kolašin Valleys project, said it was a luxury hotel at the currently highest altitude in the country.
“The combination of rustic charm and modern comfort in the interiors is complemented by restored traditional carpets, handwoven bed headboards, and photos from Kolašin’s past, predominantly featuring skiing motifs that pay tribute to the area’s history and winter sports tradition. Behind every door, the refined design of the wood interior from floor to ceiling introduces guests to the atmosphere of a mountain cabin with luxury comfort,” Bećirović said.
