Durmitor National Park recorded a successful tourist season, and since the beginning of the year, this national park has been visited by about 50% more tourists than in the same period last year.

About 130,000 visitors stayed in the park, which is about ten percent more than the record 2019.

The director of that protected area, Pero Popović, said that they already knew in the preseason that this season would be exceptional, CGNews reports.

– The interest in staying in the national park is great, both from foreign visitors and domestic ones. NP Durmitor is visited by tourists from Western Europe, Germans, Dutch, Belgians, Czechs, Poles, Russians and Chinese. Traditionally, we have guests from the region from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia – said Popović.

He added that visitors most often come to the Black Lake, the bridge on the Tara River, but also that this year it is noticeable that a lot of them go to the mountains and that conquering the peaks of Durmitor is an unforgettable experience. Tourists often choose a circular tour of the Durmitor ring, which leaves no one indifferent, because the peaks of this mountain massif line up like in the palm of your hand.

For years, rafting on the Tara River has also been a recognizable offer of active vacations, which attracts an increasing number of tourists.

The owner of one of the agencies that organize rafting on the Tara River, Dane Novosel, said that the season started quite early – in May, June was a little worse due to the rain, while in July the interest in rafting was very good, which they expect to be in August.

– 99% of the guests are foreigners, French, Belgians, Dutch and Germans. The largest number decide for a shorter tour, but all are delighted and go back to their homelands with good impressions – said Novosel.

Tourists at the Black Lake are delighted with the landscapes and beauties of this national park. Some of them are in Montenegro for the first time and I can already say with certainty that they will return to our country again.

Durmitor National Park points out that before going out into nature, and especially to climb the peaks, visitors need to be informed about the conditions on the ground, the difficulty of the tour, as well as to be adequately dressed and equipped for a safe stay on the mountain.
