The contract on the connection of the solar power plant Montechevo with a total installed capacity of up to 400 MW to the transmission system was signed today in Podgorica. It is an investment whose value exceeds EUR 350 million, and which is realized by the company Sun horizon, which operates within the CWP Europe group, one of the leading companies in the field of development of renewable energy production projects in this part of Europe.
The contract was signed in Podgorica by the Executive Director of the Montenegrin Electric Transmission System, Ivan Asanović, and the Executive Director of the Sun Horizon Company, Darija Gazivoda.
The power plant will be built in the cadastral municipalities of Lastva, Čevo and Prentin, on the territory of Cetinje.
For the purpose of connecting this power plant, one of the largest plants in the Balkans will be built, the 400 kV distribution plant of RP Čevo, into which all 400 kV transmission lines (Lastva – Trebinje, Lastva – Pljevlja and Lastva – Podgorica) would be introduced, according to the “input – output” system “.
– In addition to the higher connection power that the network will be able to accept, this technical solution also enables better performance of the transmission system because it eliminates the possibility of a simultaneous outage of the 400 kV transmission line towards Trebinje and towards Pljevlja, which will have multiple benefits, including an increase in short-circuit power and system inertia – announced is from CGES.
The agreement defines a dynamic plan that foresees that the Montečevo solar power plant and RP Čevo will be built by the end of 2027.
– Despite the fact that the integration of renewable sources of electricity into the existing network infrastructure will present technical challenges, and CGES has already received a significant number of requests for connection, it is stated that the transmission network managed by the Montenegrin Electric Transmission System is largely ready for such trends . Until now, and as it is our intention in the future, our company has invested significant funds in the strengthening and modernization of its capacities, as well as in new projects of regional importance – it is stated in the press release.
In response to the connection of new sources of electricity, they add, CGES is fully prepared to receive these sources, become a stable system and transfer energy from producers to consumers.
Let us remind you that this is the second contract for the connection of the solar power plant to the transmission system. Recently, CGES also signed a contract with the company M Energy from Cetinje, which will build the Čevo solar power plant with an installed capacity of 385 MW. The value of the investment is around EUR 300 million.
