In the first nine months of this year, Tivat saw a total of 122.17 thousand tourist arrivals and 995.43 thousand overnight stays, which is 12 percent more than in the comparable period last year, the Tivat Tourism Organization announced.

The director of TO Tivat, Nina Lakičević, announced at the annual press conference, where the report on the organization’s work and the survey conducted among tourists during the summer months were presented, that in the observed period, revenues of 713.03 thousand EUR were generated based on accommodation and tourism fees, and membership fees.

“That is 32 percent more than in the same period last year, i.e. 19 percent more compared to 2019, which is considered a record year when it comes to Montenegrin tourism”, said Lakičević, reports the CGNews agency.

She added that they are satisfied with the fact that the Municipality of Tivat is recognized as very clean, with well-maintained beaches and a balanced ratio of prices and offers.

“We had complaints about the traffic, but in that segment the Municipality has done a lot compared to previous years”, said Lakičević.

The President of the Municipality, Željko Komnenović, assessed this tourist season as the most successful in the last few years, especially emphasizing the exceptional results achieved by hotels, especially those with four or more stars.

He particularly praised the significant increase in earmarked revenues.

“Tivat has profiled itself as an elite tourist destination that hosts high-paying guests”, said Komnenović and added that the summer was marked by numerous cultural and entertainment events.

He said that the Tivat Municipal Corporation managed to maintain a high level of cleanliness in the city, so it is no longer mentioned as a problem.

“The problem of noise is not even mentioned”. We succeeded in making Tivat clean and pleasant for vacation and stay”, said Komnenović.

He recalled the challenges that Tivat faces, especially during the summer months, such as the problems of road infrastructure and overloading of the electricity distribution network.

“Discussions with the Traffic Directorate, the Monteput company, the competent Ministry and other relevant institutions regarding the bypass, which is a strategic issue, have been intensified. Without solving this issue, we cannot expect better tourism results”, said Komnenović.

He announced that in the coming months, Tivat is expecting work on the power grid, as well as the provision of new lines to Porto Montenegro and other investors in the lower parts of the city.

Komnenović called for patience, because you cannot enter next summer with an unstable electricity grid.

This year’s traditional TO Tivat survey, conducted in June, July, August and September on a sample of 1.2 thousand tourists, showed a significant increase in the number of tourists from Western Europe, Turkey and the Middle East, while a decrease in guests from Eastern Europe was recorded. The data show that the satisfaction of tourists who visited Tivat is higher compared to last year.

Professor Miloš Bešić, who worked on the research, said that the structure of tourists is changing and that there are primarily two aspects in mind.

“More and more tourists are coming in partnership arrangements, while there are fewer family arrivals. The structure has also changed in terms of the geographical destinations from which they come, and guests from the West and the Middle East are increasingly dominating”, said Bešić.

He stated that according to all parameters, tourists are more satisfied compared to last year’s results.

“What should be especially praised are the cleanliness and hygiene of the city and the beaches, where tourists gave better ratings compared to last year.” The structure of guests in relation to accommodation has changed and more and more guests are staying in four- and five-star hotels”, announced Bešić.
