Montenegro mainly imports cattle and electricity from Serbia, and exports medicine

Serbia has been an indispensable foreign trade partner of Montenegro for decades. During 2022, total imports of Montenegro amounted to EUR 3.5 billion, and products from Serbia dominated.
As it was officially announced to the ADRIA portal from the Chamber of Commerce, the most important import partners of Montenegro, last year, were Serbia: (EUR 615 million or 15 percent of total imports), China (EUR 331 million or 8 percent) and Greece (EUR 295 million or 8 percent).
– The most imported from Serbia were: cattle (EUR 27 million), electricity (EUR 26 million) and carbonated beverages (EUR 18 million). The most imported from China were: smartphones (EUR 24 million), computers and computer equipment (EUR 21 million) and air conditioning devices (EUR 15 million). The most imported from Greece were: heavy gas oils for other purposes (EUR 204 million), aluminum rods and profiles (EUR 6 million) and oranges (EUR 2 million), the Chamber of Commerce told us.
When it comes to exports, there are no major changes either, because Serbia is at the very top.
– During 2022, the total export of Montenegro amounted to EUR 700 million, and the most important export partners were: Serbia (EUR 149 million or 19 percent of total exports), Switzerland (EUR 108 million or 14 percent) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (91 million EUR or 11 percent) – they point out in the Chamber of Commerce.
The most exported to Serbia were: medicines (EUR 32 million), electricity (EUR 28 million) and meat and meat products (EUR 13 million).
– Raw aluminum (82 million EUR) and electricity (25 million EUR) were mostly exported to Switzerland. The largest exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina were electricity (EUR 67 million), raw aluminum (EUR 4 million) and wine (EUR 3 million), the Chamber of Commerce concluded.
