This year’s summer season will be at least at the level of last year’s, assessed economic analyst Oleg Filipović and added that a national strategy for the development of tourism should be made.

– As long as we do not create a national strategy for the development of tourism and do not limit the possibilities of increasing prices, we will not reach the goal we are striving for in the tourism industry – said Filipović.

He said that this year’s summer season will be at least on the same level as last year’s, but that we have to decide what kind of tourist destination we want to be.

Filipović also said that we have to define how long our tourist season lasts.

– In order to get the right effects, the season must last at least 270 days – said Filipović and added that our competition is strong.

He said that we have not found a way to realistically attract tourists from new markets and to know where to form mass and where to create luxury tourism.

– I think that there is no strategy at the national level, which would enable us to develop the tourism industry as the only one in the coming period – said Filipović.

He believes that it is necessary to target tourists from Asia, improve the regional market and find destinations and investments for the luxury market.

There was also an unrealistic increase in the prices of hotel and non-hotel accommodation, as well as prices in restaurants.

Filipović added that competent infrastructure is important to us, not only airlines.
