Data from Monstat reveals that in the past year, Montenegro saw a significant increase in the number of business entities, totaling 54,090, marking an 18.4 percent rise compared to 2022.
The statement highlights Podgorica as the city with the highest concentration of active business entities, with 18,590, constituting 34.4 percent of the total. Conversely, Gusinje had the lowest number, with just 40 entities, representing 0.1 percent of the total.
Ownership-wise, Monstat reports that 99.5 percent of all business entities in Montenegro were privately owned, mirroring the statistics from the previous year.
The wholesale and retail trade sector, along with the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, emerged as the sector with the most active business entities, totaling 14,530, or 26.9 percent of the total.
Furthermore, the data indicates that small enterprises accounted for 99.3 percent of all active business entities in Montenegro last year.
