March salary trends: Insights from Monstat data

According to Monstat data, the average salary before taxes and contributions in March stood at 825 EUR, marking a 0.5 percent increase compared to February.

Compared to the same month last year, the average net salary in March recorded a growth of 5.6 percent.

The average gross salary in March amounted to 1.03 thousand EUR. Monstat’s statement highlights that considering the 0.5 percent increase in consumer prices from February to March, real wages remained unchanged.

Average salaries before taxes and contributions in March saw growth in various sectors compared to the previous month: water supply and waste management by five percent, professional, scientific, and technical activities by 2.3 percent, other services by 2.1 percent, administrative and support service activities by 1.2 percent, and manufacturing industry by 1.1 percent.

There was also an increase in wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 0.9 percent, arts, entertainment, and recreational activities by 0.7 percent, supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, education, and health and social protection by 0.6 percent each, transportation and storage by 0.5 percent, and real estate activities by 0.3 percent.

A decrease in average salaries before taxes and contributions in March was recorded in the mining and quarrying sector by 1.8 percent, construction, financial and insurance activities by 0.3 percent, information and communication, and public administration and defense; compulsory social security by 0.2 percent each, and agriculture, forestry, and fishing, and accommodation and food services by 0.1 percent each.
