EU, EBRD, and ICT Cortex Collaborate to Enhance ICT Sector Capacity in Montenegro

Successfully completed Adiges Leadership program intended for top managers from renowned Montenegrin IT companies of the ICT Cortex cluster with support Of the European Union i European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in cooperation with Ministry of Economy development.

The program lasted 7 months, and within it, the participants of the program had the opportunity to learn about the transformation of companies and management skills with a focus on experiential learning and knowledge exchange. The topics covered by the participants were: decision-making, change management, company life cycles, finance for top managers, personal effectiveness, business negotiation and people management with practical tools and recommendations for work.

The finale of the event was held on January 24.01.2024, XNUMX. in the Ramada Hotel, when the participants were awarded certificates, and the event was opened by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development, Mr. Goran Jovetić who pointed out that a digitally transformed Montenegro is the common interest of all of us, and that its process should be accelerated, but also very dependent on the domestic ICT sector, which should be its carrier.

“The direction of the Government of Montenegro and the Ministry of Economic Development is to create programs to support the economy, which will aim to start and further strengthen economic activity while strengthening the competitiveness of domestic products and services. In this context, we have already started a wide round of public consultations with all interested parties, from the economic sector to the professional and academic community, in order to find the optimal solution for adequate support for the economy, and the emphasis will certainly be on strengthening production activities and transforming the economy towards digital and green business.

The operations and activities of the ICT cluster Cortex are one of the best examples of the joint action of the economy and strong cooperation with institutions at the national and local level. We believe that through joint efforts in all fields, primarily through a strategic approach and Government policies, through interdepartmental cooperation, we will contribute to the process of digital transformation of the Montenegrin economy and the creation of a digital society. ” – stated the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development.

The project was realized within the program financed by it European Union in the amount of 1,4 million euros, and the EU Ambassador to Montenegro, Her Excellency, addressed the guests and participants of the program. Oana Kristina Popa said yes the European Union is unwavering in its support for the economic development of Montenegro, which is also visible in the priorities listed in the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. “This initiative opens the door for Montenegro to access funds in the amount of over 400 million euros of direct support, based on the adoption of key reforms, including reforms in the area of ​​private sector development and business environment,” Popa stated.

The entire program is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the head of the EBRD office for Montenegro, Mr. Remon Zakaria, emphasized the following: “Small and medium-sized enterprises are a key sector for the development of the Montenegrin economy. We are pleased to support their development through advisory services with the support of funding from the EU and in close cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development.”

Capacity building and skill development had the opportunity to advance 36 program participants who come from top management or leadership positions of renowned ICT companies of the Cortex cluster: Alicorn, AI, Bild Studio, Coinis, Codeus, Čikom, Data Design, Euro-Unit Montenegro, Fleka, Logate, Oykos Development and Telemont.

On behalf of the hosts and representatives of the ICT cluster Cortex, the president of the assembly of the ICT cluster Cortex, Branimir Bukilić, addressed the audience and gave the closing speech:

“As an ICT cluster, we have implemented numerous activities that are focused on the strategic goals outlined at the very foundation, and in accordance with the agenda of the Ministry of Science and Technological Development, which provided us with great support. We believe that the domestic IT industry, whose representative is Cortex, should and can be the government’s ally when we talk about the digital transformation of society and other capital projects”.

After the opening address, those present had the opportunity to hear a panel discussion that summarized the complete program and the importance of holding similar trainings in order to strengthen capacities at all decision-making levels.

The certificates were awarded by Matija Dautović in front of the EBRD office in Montenegro, which was followed by a festive cocktail.
