Budget surplus for eight months 191.9 million

In the first eight months, taking into account the realization of revenues and expenditures, a budget surplus was achieved in the amount of EUR 191.9 million, or 3.1 percent of the estimated gross domestic product (GDP), the latest data from the Ministry of Finance showed.

The Ministry announced that in August the budget surplus amounted to EUR 43 million.

According to the data of the Ministry, budget revenues in the period January-August amounted to EUR 1.69 billion, or 27.3 percent of the estimated GDP, and were EUR 298.4 million or 27.3 percent higher than planned, while compared to 414.7 million or 32.6 percent higher compared to last year.

VAT revenues by the end of August were collected in the amount of EUR 680.3 million, which is EUR 59.4 million or 9.6 percent more than planned and EUR 99.7 million or 17.2 percent more than the same period of the previous year.

“In the mentioned period, the excise tax revenue category was collected in the amount of EUR 209.2 million, which is 35.7 million or 20.6 percent more than the plan, or 44.4 million or 26.9 percent compared to on the same period of the previous year,” the report states.

The biggest contribution to the growth of excise taxes for eight months this year was recorded in the excise tax on mineral oils and their derivatives, in the amount of EUR 114.6 million, as well as in the excise tax on tobacco and tobacco products, in the amount of EUR 65.5 million.
