Mövenpick Teuta Kotor Bay, a five-star hotel resort in Risan, is part of an ambitious plan for the reconstruction of the former Teuta Hotel, in which EUR 41 million will be invested by the time it opens in 2025, it was announced at the presentation of the project.
Positioned on the very coast of the world-famous Boka Kotor Bay under UNESCO protection, the residential collection is part of the only “mix-used” resort in the interior of Boka and the first of its kind in Risan, a city of ancient history, culture and heritage.
– Significant procedures and everything that the UNESCO protected area required, we fulfilled. In the next two years, with the construction and opening of the Mövenpick Teuta Kotor Bay Hotel & Residences on the site of the former Teuta Hotel, a brighter future for tourism will begin in Risno – said Vladimir Mračević, executive director of Briv construction, the project’s investor company.
He added that after receiving all approvals, the company entered into a partnership with the renowned hotel group Accor and jointly determined the Mövenpick brand.
The mixed model involves the development of exceptional hotel content with 151 units, of which 66 are on the real estate market and 85 classic accommodation units in a concept that unites a unique approach to hospitality with reference to the history and tradition of Risno and Boka Bay.
Mračević announced the company’s ambitious plans to further improve Risan, which will benefit both the local community and the clients of the first Mövenpick hotel in Montenegro.
– We have a lot of hard work behind us. Briv has been building a name and tradition in construction for 40 years, we have presented numerous projects to investors. And tonight we are in one of them – we made a significant contribution to the construction of Porto Montenegro, with a constant tendency to open our projects that should complete the tourist offer of Montenegro. We want to restore the splendor and glory of Risno, with significant investments and with the high level of service it truly deserves – said Mračević, emphasizing that this is an opportunity for the company to give back to the community in which it has been operating for decades, and leave a legacy for Montenegrin tourism and generations to come.
– The reconstruction of the former Hotel Teuta, the establishment of a marina with 120 moorings for yachts up to 30 meters in length, then the transformation of the Ljubatović Foundation into a luxury boutique hotel, and the creation of an Eco-village and an organic farm as an additional destination for the owners and guests of the Mövenpick Hotel and Residences are at stake, Mračević added.
On an area of 17.5 thousand square meters of the most peaceful part of the picturesque Bay of Kotor, Mövenpick Teuta Kotor Bay resort will offer, in addition to the hotel’s beach and indoor pool, 151 elegant and comfortable accommodation units, restaurants, a bar, a conference area and a spa center with a wide range of contents.
The director of sales and development at Briv Hospitalities, which manages the residences and the hotel, Murat Dernek, said that the first Mövenpick hotel in Montenegro, which operates under the slogan “Queen of the Bay of Kotor”, will provide guests, clients and the community with a new look at the history of this part of Boka, with privileged access to 5* services, world-class facilities and gastronomic restaurants.
He added that the destination is ideal for travelers looking for rest and peace, but also for those who want to, with the finest Swiss hospitality of the Accor Group, explore the history and culture of Risan as the capital of Queen Teuta and an archaeological-museum destination.
The presentation of the model of the resort and the plans of the Briv company was held in the Marea restaurant, which is owned by the family, with the presence of numerous guests from public life, among whom was the married couple Divac.
Opened in 1983, Hotel Teuta is an example of the famous Yugoslav brutalist architectural style, located in Risan, the “jewel in the crown” of the former Yugoslavia. As part of the UNESCO cultural heritage, it is culturally protected and very important for Montenegro and its rich history and tradition.
The owner of the hotel, Briv Construction, is known for the implementation of the most demanding projects in Montenegro and the Adriatic region. The company, which operated for decades under the name YU BRIV, was founded in 1990 by the merger of two successful family companies.
After decades of work and experience gained in the construction sector, Briv sees the vision of further development in tourism, and Briv Hospitalities, in synergy with Mövenpick, laid the foundations of a new hospitality concept.
