After the announcement of the preliminary results of the population, households, and housing census, the head of the Society of Demographers and Statisticians of Montenegro emphasizes that they show our country has become an immigration area.
To remind, the number of inhabitants is higher by about 12,000 compared to 2011, and Radojević emphasizes that the increase in the number of foreigners may have contributed to this.
“However, we need to wait for the final data. It should be noted that the natural population growth has been positive,” she pointed out, appearing on a special program of the Center for Democratic Transition.
In 2011, foreigners constituted eight percent of the total population of Montenegro, but Radojević estimates that this time there are approximately around 100,000 of them.
“But they really live here and make up the total population of Montenegro,” she said.
