By the end of 2025, Montenegro can meet all the final benchmarks for negotiation chapters 14 and 21, which relate to transport policy and Trans-European networks, Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Filip Radulović said.

At the annual meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Transport Community of Southeast Europe with the Ministers of Transport of the Western Balkans, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, as well as representatives of the European Commission (EC), he discussed reforms concerning transport networks in the region, harmonization with EU legislation and standards, as well as social aspects of transport.

“The key challenge is the preparation of the new Law on Railways and the Law on Interoperability and Safety in Railways and the related future functioning of the independent regulatory body in railways. I am encouraged that soon we can expect the arrival of EC experts, who will help us with some reform measures”, said Radulović.

He, as a panelist at the ministerial panel of the ITS conference, emphasized the importance and plans that Montenegro has when it comes to the implementation of ITS in the field of traffic.

“The development of ITS is one of the measures within the Reform Agenda that Montenegro must fulfill in order to use the opportunities that will be provided by the new initiative of the EC, designated as the Growth Plan,” stated Radulović.

On the sidelines of the conference in Skopje, Radulović spoke with representatives of the EC, and had a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Transport of North Macedonia, Blagoj Bočvarski.
