From May 1 to July 16, tax inspectors conducted 1,489 checks on the regularity of taxpayers’ business operations and identified irregularities in 201 cases. As a result, 275 misdemeanor warrants were issued, imposing fines totaling 928,500 euros, as reported by the Tax Administration.

Regarding the fines imposed, a total of 470,188 euros were assigned, of which 391,988 euros, or 83%, have been collected.

  • The collection applies to taxpayers who accepted misdemeanor liability and paid the fines within eight days (reduced by one-third under the Misdemeanor Act). During this reporting period, temporary bans on business activities were imposed on 15 taxpayers, as specified in the statement.

Tax inspectors emphasize their ongoing intensive controls in general tax registration, submission of tax returns, revenue recording, market payments, and employee reporting in coastal and northern municipalities.

  • Targeted inspections are also conducted on taxpayers identified with violations in the previous year or those known to have omitted recording sales or issuing invoices to service users. Taxpayers found in violation for the first time during an inspection, leading to a business activity ban under the Tax Administration Law, will face a ban lasting up to seven days; repeated violations result in bans up to 15 days, according to the Tax Administration.

They urge taxpayers to comply with regulations and ensure accurate income data.

  • Citizens can report any irregularities by calling the hotline at 19707 or through the “Be Responsible” platform, as stated in the release.
