According to MONSTAT, the average gross salary in Montenegro for August was €1,080, while the average net salary amounted to €861.

The net salary saw a 1.2% increase compared to July, and a significant rise of 7.8% compared to August of the previous year. Considering that consumer prices increased by 0.4% from July to August, real wages grew by 0.8% during the same period.

In terms of sectors, net salaries rose in several areas, including:

  • Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles: +3.0%
  • Financial activities and insurance: +2.3%
  • Information and communication: +2.1%
  • Agriculture, forestry and fishing: +1.9%
  • Construction: +1.9%
  • Transport and storage: +1.7%
  • Other service activities: +1.7%
  • Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply: +1.5%
  • Professional, scientific and technical activities: +1.5%
  • Accommodation and food services: +1.2%
  • Water Supply; waste management and similar activities: +0.8%
  • Education: +0.8%
  • Real estate activities: +0.7%
  • Public administration and defense; mandatory social security: +0.7%
  • Arts, entertainment and recreation: +0.6%
  • Administrative and support service activities: +0.3%

Conversely, net salaries decreased in specific sectors:

  • Health and social care: -1.6%
