Montenegro sees 7% increase in agricultural product trade in Q2, driven by rise in purchases from farmers

In the second quarter, the total value of the purchase and sale of agricultural, forestry and fishing products by businesses and cooperatives with two or more employees amounted to €12.9 million, according to Monstat.

  • Of this total, €5.2 million, or 40.3%, was derived from sales of products produced in-house by businesses, while €7.7 million, or 59.7%, came from purchases from individual farmers. Compared to the same period last year, there has been a 7% increase in the value of purchases and sales in this sector, with a 2.9% rise in the value of sales from businesses’ own production.
  • Additionally, there has been a 10% increase in the value of purchases from individual agricultural producers.

The breakdown of the value of purchases and sales shows that raw cow’s milk constitutes 23.7% of the total, fresh vegetables 20.6%, chicken eggs 20.3%, other products 11.9%, livestock by type and category 8.4%, fresh fruit 6.9%, fresh fish 6.7%, fruit and grape processing products 1.1%, and industrial herbs 0.4%.
