Liquid assets of banks in March EUR 1.68 billion

Banks’ liquid assets in March amounted to EUR 1.68 billion, which is 8.41 percent less than in February. The liquid assets of banks in March compared to the same month last year were 23.41 percent higher.

Liquidity coefficients for the banking system as a whole were above the prescribed minimums, on a daily and decadal level. The balance sheet total of banks at the end of March amounted to EUR 6.38 billion and recorded a decrease of 0.87 percent compared to February, while at the annual level it strengthened by 18.53 percent.

In the structure of banks’ assets, in March, the dominant share of 60.12 percent was achieved by total loans, followed by cash and deposit accounts with central banks with 21.84 percent, securities with 16.97 percent, while 1.07 percent related to the remaining assets.

In the structure of liabilities, the dominant share of 81.3 percent was achieved by deposits, followed by capital with 11.21 percent, loans with 4.49 percent, while other items accounted for three percent of total liabilities.

The total capital of banks at the end of March amounted to EUR 715.45 million, and on a monthly and annual level, it recorded a growth of 1.64 percent and 20.18 percent, respectively.
