Holiday Peak: Budva, Bar, and Herceg Novi Lead Tourist Arrivals, Surpassing 50% Surge in Tax Revenues

Dedicated tourism revenues in Montenegro, including revenues from stay taxes, membership contributions, and tourist taxes, amounted to around 45 thousand euros in the first ten days of 2024.

This reflects a 51 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to data from the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro (NTOCG).

As per NTOCG’s statement to Forbes Montenegro, revenue from stay taxes collected until January 10th of this year amounted to 21,414 euros, achieving 94.59 percent compared to the same period the previous year.

The revenue from the tourist tax amounts to 7,401 euros, representing a growth of 46.4 percent compared to the same period the previous year. The membership contribution revenue is 16,206 euros, showing an impressive increase of 663.65 percent.

Based on unofficial data on tourist traffic in municipalities provided by local tourist organizations, on January 4th, 17,373 tourists stayed in Montenegro. This is almost similar to the previous year during the same period (92.66 percent compared to the corresponding period), and a growth of 138.18 percent compared to 2019.

According to the same data, the municipalities with the highest number of tourists were Budva, Herceg Novi, and Bar.

The largest number of tourists came from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Turkey, Germany, Austria, and Russia.

The National Tourism Organization (NTO) notes that they currently only have unofficial data from local tourist organizations regarding tourist traffic, which they receive on Thursdays.
