There is EUR 143 million in the state treasury, some of which have been spent inappropriately, announced Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.
“I don’t know how they spent from economic citizenship, let’s say, it was about 50 or something million. EUR 30-40 million was spent on current expenditure. We will have to examine all that, because the money from economic citizenship cannot be spent on current consumption”, said Spajić at the first press conference after the constitutive session of the Government.
He stated that this money must be spent exclusively for municipalities in the north, or underdeveloped municipalities, where investments are made in capital projects.
“Besides the debt of EUR 100 million, there are still EUR 18 million and EUR 22 million left. That will evaporate by the end of the year,” Spajić said.
He asked why the Government left in the budget that we can borrow EUR 600 million this year.
“Maybe you don’t need to borrow that much, that is, you don’t need that much for this year, but you should make deposits for the next year as well,” added Spajić.
He stated that it is very similar to what happened to the 41st Government, which left them EUR 60 million in the treasury and a large monthly deficit, with the exception that this time the monthly deficit is not as terrible as it was then.
“Even now the interest rates are much worse. Let’s say, when they were borrowing EUR 100 million, if you had gone to the London Stock Exchange, you would probably have borrowed, instead of 11-12 percent, somewhere around five to six percent,” Spajić said.
Now, as he assessed, with all the genius of someone who deals with it, you can get into debt with a Montenegrin credit rating of seven to eight percent.
