Elektroprivreda Crne Gore energy company paid the second installment of five million euros, which created the preconditions for it to take over the assets of Željezara in eight days, which it bought from the Turkish Tosjali Group for EUR 20 million. In the following days, preparatory works will begin in order to start the production of structures and substructures intended for solar panels.

When Elektroprivreda receives the “green light” to dispose of the property in accordance with the purchase agreement, 197 workers will enter Željezar, who since June 2 of last year have persistently fought to save the factory and their jobs.

First of all, they will perform preparatory work, which includes cleaning the circuit, preparing the drive, inventory of movable and immovable property, supplies of raw materials and registration of property outside the circuit will be performed again.

This work will take about a month and a half, after which the implementation of the activities according to the business plan will begin, the first segment of which is the construction and sub-construction, Executive Director of EPCG Željezara Solar Đorđije Manojlović told Radio Montenegro.

– In the former mechanical workshop, mechanical processing will be done, in the structural one aluminum substructures and steel structures for solar panels will be carried out. Later, preparations will begin in the forge in order to start that plant as soon as possible, and the fourth segment includes the construction of a solar power plant. Analysis of roofs and land, where power plants could potentially be built, is in the process. I think that some 17 MW could be on the roofs, and 30 MW outside the roofs – emphasizes Manojlović.

304 workers will be necessary for the implementation of all four segments provided for in the business plan, but new jobs will also be created, as we are simultaneously talking with potential investors based on the principle of business-technical cooperation, for which there is interest from the countries of the region.

– Our priority is to employ as many workers as possible and I think we will succeed in that, because we have the interest of serious potential partners and I hope for some concrete agreements soon. We are on the way to opening a blacksmith shop, a rebar network plant and several other metallurgical projects in Željezara – points out Manojlović.

Manojlović is convinced that after several unsuccessful privatizations of Nikšić Ironwork (Željezara), he will start on the road to recovery, why the best guarantee is a proper approach and real jobs, which is foreseen in the business plan.
