Airport in Tivat continued its bad business, News
That airport lost the largest part of one of its most important markets in Eastern Europe
After a relatively weak three months of the main summer tourist season, Tivat airport continued with poor results in the physical volume of traffic in September, when a total of only 90,648 passengers passed through the airport’s terminal building. This is only 40.2 percent of the number of passengers that Tivat airport had a record in September 2019.
Last month’s performance was significantly lower even compared to September of last year, when the Tivat airport had 118,218 passengers that month. This means that this year’s September, in the physical volume of traffic, was about 30 percent worse than last year. All this is the result of the fact that this year, due to war events, political crisis and sanctions, Tivat airport lost the largest part of one of its most important markets – Eastern Europe, because this year there were no flights from numerous companies from Ukraine, while due to sanctions, flights to Tivat missed Russia for the third year in a row, and Belarus for the second year in a row.
Last month, 554 aircraft operations were recorded at Tivat Airport, which is 29.6 percent less landings and takeoffs compared to the same month last year, when there were 718 aircraft operations on the runway next to the Tivat Bay. By the way, by the end of the third quarter (the end of September) this year, Tivat Airport achieved a turnover of only 564,913 passengers, which is a 10.2 percent lower result than in nine months last year. When this performance is compared with the result of Tivat Airport for the nine months of the record-breaking year 2019, when it recorded traffic of 1,232,795 passengers, the picture is even bleaker because this year’s traffic is as much as 118 percent lower than three years ago. This proves that, although the number of flights to the countries of Western Europe this summer was increased compared to before, Vijesti writes.
