Conad expands into Montenegro and North Macedonia: Albanian success story and Balkan ambitions

Conad’s Albanian branch has announced ambitious plans to expand into new markets by venturing into Montenegro and North Macedonia.

According to Retail Serbia Portal, Conad currently operates 40 modern supermarkets in Albania, renowned for their adherence to the highest global standards, and has seen robust growth in recent years. Revenue in Albania surged impressively from 44 million euros in 2018 to 72 million euros by 2022, marking a substantial 68 percent increase.

The first Conad supermarkets were originally established in Italy back in 1962.

Beyond its home base, Conad has established a presence in Albania, San Marino, China, Malta, and Kosovo.

Meanwhile, another notable Italian discount retailer, Europsin, is also eyeing Balkan expansion with plans to enter the Serbian market.
