Low-cost carrier Wizz Air will introduce a new regular flight service linking Bratislava, Slovakia, with Podgorica, Montenegro, starting on May 21, 2026, the Montenegrin national broadcaster has reported. This new direct connection is set to operate three times per week, with flights scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The inaugural services are timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Montenegro’s independence, symbolically linking two European capitals as tourist traffic is expected to grow ahead of the summer season. Officials said the route will make travel between the Slovak and Montenegrin capitals simpler and more accessible, encouraging increased tourism and business travel.
This Bratislava–Podgorica route will become one of a growing number of connections to Montenegro this year, forming part of a broader expansion of Wizz Air’s services in the region. The new service represents additional direct access between central Europe and the Montenegrin capital, enhancing linkages for travellers interested in exploring both urban culture and the wider Balkans.
The introduction of these flights also reflects seasonal demand patterns, with May often marking the start of the peak travel period between northern and southern Europe. Direct fares between Bratislava and Podgorica are already available early in the booking window, with budget carriers offering competitive pricing that underscores the route’s appeal for leisure travellers.
