U.S. Ambassador highlights Montenegro’s strategic potential for regional integration and EU accession

Montenegro holds exceptional development potential, particularly in the context of regional integration and connectivity, U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Judy Rising Reinke stated during a meeting with Minister of Public Works Majda Adžović. She emphasized the importance of integrating Montenegro into European transportation and infrastructure networks, noting this would further accelerate the country’s path to European Union membership.

Minister Adžović informed the ambassador about the key responsibilities of the Ministry of Public Works, which focus on advancing strategic sectors critical to Montenegro’s development. She noted that the Ministry’s mission is centered on comprehensive support for strategic investments, with active involvement from both domestic and foreign private sectors.

The Ministry aims to work proactively with all relevant stakeholders from the public and private sectors to shape policies and measures that attract and implement investments in the public interest. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of road infrastructure and the execution of strategic investment projects aligned with international agreements and bilateral cooperation.

Adžović highlighted that Montenegro has recently made significant progress toward EU membership and that the current priority is to accelerate strategic projects, especially those that support balanced regional development and improve the quality of life for citizens.

Ambassador Rising Reinke reaffirmed the United States’ strong commitment to supporting Montenegro on its European integration path. She stated that the U.S. will remain a firm partner in reforms and projects that contribute to Montenegro’s stability, growth, and integration into the European community.

Both officials agreed on the importance of continuing close cooperation in infrastructure development and European integration, as well as creating an encouraging environment for foreign investors.
