The Western Balkans ESG Summit will be held from April 26 to 28 in Porto Montenegro

The Western Balkans ESG Summit, which will gather over 400 high-ranking representatives of governments, international institutions, and leaders of business communities in the region and the world, will be held from April 26 to 28 in Porto Montenegro.

The summit Is organized by Sustineri Partners and Porto Montenegro, under the auspices of the Montenegrin Government.

According to the organizers, the summit will provide a platform for constructive dialogue on opportunities for attracting investments and faster economic growth of the countries in the region, through the adoption of sustainable business standards and the development of green innovations and technologies.

The director of the Sustineri Partners consultancy, Biljana Braithwaite, said that the summit is an opportunity for decision-makers and the business community in the region to prepare for the application of ESG standards, as a foundation for environmental protection, human rights and responsible corporate governance, which are becoming inevitable for all of them. Who want to secure investments or remain competitive on foreign markets, primarily the European Union (EU) market.

– Some companies in the region have already made significant strides in the application of ESG standards, while most are still familiar with the obligations and challenges arising from the requirements of regulators, financial institutions and investors. We believe that our gathering comes at the right time, and our goal is to make it a renowned annual event, which will make positive changes for society through the launch of strategic initiatives – said Braithwaite.

The representative of Porto Montenegro, Danilo Kalezić, said that through the implementation of a series of projects related to environmental protection, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing the use of plastic and waste generation, as well as the protection of local species of fish and shellfish, they have already demonstrated their commitment to sustainable development.

– We consider the summit an opportunity to further raise the importance of these topics within the business community – said Kalezić.

The event was also supported by the Government of Montenegro, emphasizing its commitment to social and economic progress, which is based on the concept of sustainable development and care for each individual.
– In such circumstances, environmental protection is a process that goes hand in hand with responsible management and building a stable partnership with socially responsible companies and initiatives. With this topic high on the Government’s agenda, and appreciating the importance of the very concept of sustainable development for Montenegro and the Western Balkans, the Government supported the idea of Sustineri Partners for the implementation of the upcoming WB ESG Summit – the Government announced.
