The Tenants’ Association has urged all tenants to join an initiative to protect the Velje Brdo housing project from political and investor abuse.

They emphasize that the project, partially funded by citizens’ money, must be managed transparently, with apartments allocated through a fair process free from political influence. The association calls for tenants to set the allocation criteria, publicize ranking lists, and ensure the project benefits those in genuine need.

The official tenant registration process begins on September 1, with locations announced publicly. The goal is to register only citizens who truly need housing, preventing speculative misuse. Over 11,000 citizens have applied so far, but it remains unclear how many are genuinely in need.

The association insists that the project must serve those in real housing need rather than become a tool for profit and manipulation. Registered citizens’ lists will be coded, publicly available, and submitted to relevant institutions, with decisions made transparently and in consultation with tenant representatives.

Public forums will allow tenants to establish criteria, and the entire process will be monitored through media campaigns. The association calls on all tenants to participate actively, emphasizing their message: “Our money – our voice.”
