Princess Ksenija highway sees over 730,000 vehicles in 2025: Growth continues since opening

Since the beginning of this year, 734,870 vehicles have passed through the Princess Ksenija highway, according to data from the Monteput website.

Last year, a total of 2.87 million vehicles traveled the highway, compared to 2.29 million in 2023 and 1.14 million in 2022.

The priority section of the Bar–Boljare highway was officially inaugurated on July 13, 2022, and opened to traffic the following day.

During the first seven days, tolls were free. After that, the toll fees were set at €1.5 for motorcycles, €3.5 for passenger cars, and €17 for trucks and buses.

The total length of this first section is 41.5 kilometers, featuring 20 bridges along the main route, nine bridges at interchange ramps, two overpasses, eight underpasses, 7.2 kilometers of concrete retaining walls, and 16 twin-tube tunnels.

The section includes four interchanges — Smokovac, Pelev Brijeg, Veruša, and Mateševo — each with toll booths connecting the highway to the existing road network.

The maximum speed limit on the highway is 100 kilometers per hour.
